Human Subjects Protection

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) for the Protection of Human Subjects in Research oversees all research conducted by faculty, staff, and students that involves living human beings as participants in a study.

Announcements

  1. TRAINING POLICY: All researchers and faculty advisees are required to take the IRB Basics course on the CITI website (www.citiprogram.org) every three years. All personnel funded by NSF or NIH are required to take additional modules under the Responsible Conduct of Research courses. See Responsible Conduct of Research for more information about this important training addition.
  2. To facilitate classroom-based research, use the IRB resources available on Blackboard Learn. The Overview describes the IRB resources for faculty or instructors interested in conducting research on their classes. A Sample IRB Application is also available.
  3. Would you like to schedule a live interactive presentation for your class or department? Contact the IRB Director to schedule a class or departmental presentation tailored to your area's IRB needs by email or by calling 928-523-4236. The presentation last an hour to an hour and a half depending on audience questions.
  4. Did you know that students must have permission from the University Union in order to recruit research participants at that facility? See the Policy on collecting data at the University Union.
