A reminder from the Office of Regulatory Compliance

As fall semester gets underway, the Office of Regulatory Compliance (ORC) would like to remind researchers that we are available to serve as your safety compliance resource. ORC provides regularly-scheduled training courses for Chemical, Biological, Radiation Safety, as well as Hazardous Waste Management. Our staff is also happy to arrange on-site training seminars at your Departmen's request. Training schedules, along with information on other ORC compliance services offered, are available on our website: www.research.nau.edu/compliance/orc.

NIH to Eliminate Correction Window for Due Dates on
or after January 25, 2011:

Beginning with due dates on or after January 25, 2011, NIH, AHRQ and NIOSH will eliminate the error correction window from the electronic application submission process. The error correction window originally was implemented in December 2005 as a temporary measure to facilitate the transition from paper to electronic submission of grant applications. The window allowed applicants an opportunity after the deadline to correct missing or incorrect aspects of their applications.

Beginning on January 25, 2011, all applications submitted after 5 p.m. local time of the applicant organization on the due date will be subject to the NIH late policy and may not be accepted for review. Faculty may still review (and resubmit if necessary) their proposals prior to the receipt deadline, and for this reason we encourage faculty to submit NIH proposals two to three days prior to the deadline. With the loss of the two-day window, there is not likely to be sufficient time to review and correct errors on the final day of submission.

Questions about this change should be directed to your OGCS Grant & Contract Administrator.
