Upcoming Workshops and Events

The Division of Research will sponsor the following events in Spring, 2010.  Check back in early January, 2010 for dates and registration info!

Intellectual Property:  What Faculty & Staff Need to Know

What is Intellectual Property (IP)?  What IP is copyrightable and what IP is patentable?  Who owns IP developed by NAU faculty, staff and students? How does discovery disclosure benefit the inventor(s)?  These topics and more are discussed in an interactive presentation by NAU Ventures staff.

Review and Approval of Research Involving Human Subjects: Who needs it and why?

This hour-long presentation provides students, faculty, and staff with introductory information on the rationale behind establishing Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) to oversee research involving human subjects, categories of IRB approval, how to determine which projects must be reviewed by NAU's IRB and the required information and documents needed to obtain IRB approval. Workshop participants will have a chance to ask specific questions related to their particular projects in the last 15 minutes of the presentation. Contact the IRB Director to schedule a class or departmental presentation tailored to your area's IRB needs by email or by calling (928) 523-4236.
