Applying for IRB Approval of Research
Step 1:
Does your project need approval?
If you are not sure if your project requires approval from the IRB, read the document What Projects Need IRB Review or call the IRB office at 928-523-4236.
Step 2:
Take the required IRB training called The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI). If you have not completed this training within the past two years, please take it before submitting your IRB application.
- Please refer to the instructions on how to register for the CITI course and take the IRB tutorial. Not following the instructions could result in being assigned more modules than you need to take.
Step 3:
Fill out an online IRB application.
- Use these tools when filling out an application on NAIRBe:
- Worksheet for drafting responses and collaborating with others (Word)
- Online help boxes when you click on a question within the NAIRBe application system
What Happens Next?
Once your application has been received by the IRB, you will receive a confirmation email. The IRB requests 10 working days from the date you submit your application to respond with either an approval or a request for more information or revisions. For questions, please call 928-523-4236 or email the IRB.
